Background: The article addresses, as a fundamental aspect, the numerical changes of the Camagüey population over 60 years of age.
Objective: Analyze the aging dynamics in the province of Camagüey during the period 2015-2023.
Methods: The spatio-temporal behavior of a set of indicators of the demographic dynamics of its population in the period was analyzed, which allowed the analysis of the impacts of demographic aging on dissimilar aspects of the sociodemographic reality of Camagüey. In a synthetic way, statistical, spatial statistics and geoprocessing methods are used to obtain, analyze, process and output information. Special emphasis is placed on using Geographic Information Systems which, in conjunction with other packages and tools, allowed the application of novel procedures such as spatial statistics techniques.
Results: The execution of various spatial modeling actions it possible to obtain graphs and maps, which, through their analysis and interpretation, allow the establishment of possible lines of consideration when facing the process of population aging.
Conclusions: The aging of the population of Camagüey constitutes a challenge for which actions must be prepared with a view to the comprehensive care of the elderly, in order to achieve the spatial sustainability of the process.
